Hello Activist Parents!
I have something to share with you! Inspiration came while playing with my kids at the library. I adapted one nursery rhyme and one sing along. They are toddler approved, my 3 year old had several encore requests. And who better to share them with than you!
Here’s to singing with toddlers!
There was an old lady
There was an old lady who lived in a shoe
She had so many friends she knew just what to do
They chatted and giggled and made wonderful bread
So people in shelters can have full bellies before bed.
Itsy Bitsy Spider
The itsy bitsy spider when up the water spout
To see hirs* garden and what’s begun to sprout
Oh no! The deer came and ate up all the grain
But hir neighbor came over to plant seeds again.
I absolutely love using rhymes and sing alongs to teach my kids about the world. Check out my posts about fighting sexism with nursery rhymes, building community with sing alongs, and introducing non-binary gender inclusive pronouns* here and here!
